Pesky Surprise!

This past Sunday my husband decided to get a few things checked off on his honey do list! He knew the cabinet in the kitchen kept springing open every time you tried to close it and I think it hit him in the head one too many times, so that had to be the 1st thing he would get done. Claire asked if she could help him, so she found the screw driver. It was a rainy day so I myself was curled up with a blanket reading and enjoying my third cup of coffee. I heard them rattling and chatting and chuckled a few times at how my husband was explaining things to her. After a while they were finished and my husband went off to check more things off his list. Claire asked me if I wanted to try out the cabinet and I said, "No honey not right now, I''ll bet its perfect though!" Claire kept bugging me to open it! She said, "Mom, you have to open it you'll love it!" You know when you are reading a good book and just don't want to stop, that was me. I said, "Claire I promise when I do open it, I will be sure to call you so you can watch, ok?" Claire said, "Do you promise?" "Yes, now go play!"

Later in the afternoon we decided to go see the Alice in Wonderland movie, so naturally I forgot all about the cabinet. As we were about to run out the door, Claire yells, "Mom the cabinet!" Ugh, the cabinet! "Fine Claire, if it will make you happy and leave me alone about it, then I'll open it!" Well what do you think happened when I opened that cabinet? A little friend flew out right on me!

Before you think we have mice, No it wasn't real! My husband and daughter decided to play a joke on me. They know how much I hate mice that they thought how funny it would be to see mom scream. Well lets just say that the neighbors heard me scream I was so loud! James had no idea his dad was planning that so when I screamed he screamed and threw his body behind a chair. If any of you remember my past posts, he is a little dramatic and kind of a wimp! Even though Claire was there and knew all about it, I think it scared her when James screamed and then she cried. Well Jim, I think your joke backfired a little. Yes, you got me, but I'm sure you didn't think the kids would freak so much, did you?

So do you think that was the end of the mouse fiasco? Hell no, he got me again! I guess I should have been watching where my husband had put the thing but I tried to erase it from my memory. Somehow in the rush of calming the kids down and getting my purse to go to the movies my husband had slipped it in the pocket of my purse. As we were driving in the car, I opened my purse for my lipgloss and I put my hand in and screamed "AGAIN!"

He had put it in the pocket. I said, "Shit!!" which thankfully my kids didn't hear because the music was on! I told Jim that we would have to skip the movie and go straight to the ER to start my heart again! He was laughing so hard he almost went up the curb. I said between gritted teeth "enough with the mouse!"

We went to the movies but I have to say not too thrilled with the movie. I mean Johnny Depp was good and the special effects and costumes were great, but truthfully it bored me! Sorry you Alice fans. Love the book but the movie is a no go!

I thought I had survived the whole mouse game until later that night when I went in to brush my teeth and the mouse was on my toothbrush! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Didn't I say, enough already! I am scared to say I have no idea where the mouse is and when it will surface! Once, maybe twice was enough and afterwards I did laugh, but this third time means payback! I Iove that we are a family of jokesters and have fun but I'm done! Any ideas on how to get my husband back? He deserves a doozy for all the heart stopping and throat hurting from all that screaming, that he has put me through. I welcome all ideas to get this jokester back!

That is kind of funny that they planned it out like that. They teamed up on ya girl! If that would have been a spider, I'd have been done. :)

That is too funny!! They really get a kick out of scaring you.

My Big Chick is going to see that movie on Saturday for a b-day party thing. I hope it's not too weird or scary. We are pretty tame with our movie watching.

I'm guilty of really taking a prank over the top like that, so that cracked me up!

I did speak to my teacher and I'm not 100% happy but getting there. We both compromised a bit and it's a starting point. I'm guessing the rest of my issues will go straight through the principle. I actually blogged most of the convo later that day if you want to read it. It's under the coffee cup post :)

Thank you so much for your support - you girls gave me strength and confidence!
