What's up with women today?

I just gotta ask, are we all 12 these days? I'm pretty sure I"m turning 40 this summer which if I do the math right, I was 12 ~ 28 years ago, right? Math was never my subject so correct me if I'm wrong! Women, could we please act our age and not our shoe size? Sometimes I see women acting the same age as the girls in both my kids classes. Let me remind you that means 6 and 7 years olds and 10 and 11 year olds!

Why can't women ever be comfortable in their own skin?

I was to meet a gal yesterday morning for coffee. How surprised was I when I was the first one there. Folks, that doesn't happen very often, me beating the other one. In fact it has never happened. Remember, I am the one who is "Tardy for the Party!"

I looked around to see if possibly she was tucked in some corner somewhere. I waited for about 15 minutes, then went outside to see if I had her number in the car. She is a mother of a boy in my son's class, so we are friendly within passing, but I don't have her number in my phone. I managed to get a hold of her and find out she was home sick with upper respiratory and double ear infections. Oooh, ouch, that doesn't sound like fun! Unfortunately she had left a message the day before telling me how sick she was and she couldn't make it. I just never got her message! She then starts saying, "Oh my gosh, are you standing there? I am so sorry you had to go all that way! I'm so sorry you didn't get the message, I feel so bad, I'll make it up to you!"

Whoa, hold up a second, I'm the idiot who didn't check the machine, so why is she apologizing? Please stop!

I was able to tell her to get back in bed and feel better! And that seriously I did not feel put out or bothered that I made the trip over there. You do not need to make it up to me I told her. Plus, I needed coffee anyway!

Then later in the day I got a call from a gal who I was planning on walking with while my daughter was in gymnastics class. She called to say she'd had a real crappy day and has too much on her plate, so she needed to cancel. I asked if she was ok and then said, "No biggie, lets figure something out for next week!"

She said, "Everything's fine but I hope you're not mad?"I said, "What, you're kidding me? I'm not about to get mad at something like this!" She then said, "You do too get mad!" I'm sitting on the other end of the phone just shaking my head because I was confused here. We aren't BFF's but I've know her for a while because our son's play football together and we sit by each other and cheer the boys on! She then started again with the you do too crap, and I just had to stop her mid sentence and I said, "Honey, I guess you don't know me well enough because I'm not mad! Again, are we 12 or 40? I mean, sure I'd get mad if she told me she couldn't walk and then she went walking with someone else and I saw them, duh, who wouldn't be miffed?

"Hello, McFly, anyone in there?"

I'm just starting to get to know this gal. Up until now, I have felt comfortable with her, but this was weird. I mean if this is how our relationship is going to be then I'm not sure if I want it! I seriously would not think to ask if someone was mad at me because I had to reschedule. Am I the rude one here because it wouldn't bother me? Can't a person cancel and reschedule if they need to without feeling like they need to check if the other will be mad at them? You need to do whats best for you right?

Never in a million did I hear my mother ask any of her girlfriends if they were going to be mad if she didn't do something, I mean WTF? It wasn't that she didn't care if feelings were hurt, but I get the feeling they were just more mature!

I am so annoyed and shocked by all the drama that goes on either around the neighborhood or in my kids schools. Don't you people have anything better to do. Go read a book or paint a table. I just want to say, "Well count me out, I'm so not interested!" La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, I can't hear you!

This is where I tell my husband how awesome it would be to be a man. I mean, guys can have a drop down, fist punching, kick in the groin match if either one pissed the other off and the next day they'd be good as gold. Not women, boy can they hold a grudge!

I'm thinking I want to take my little family and move somewhere desolate and hidden away, where its totally drama free but with plenty of chocolate, coffee and books!

I'm looking forward to a drama free day today! I think I'll go organize a closet or better yet, paint a table! Doesn't that sound heavenly?

Oh I love this post. It really depicts how some people can be. The fact that both of these ladies had called you and told you what was going on shows character, why aren't they aware of this?
If you find an Island somewhere that is drama free may I please join you? Especially if it has coffee, chocolate and books =)
Have a great "drama free" weekend!!

i've experienced way too much of that too. i don't get it. i don't even want to get it, you know? i'm pretty straight-forward, if i'm ticked, you'll know. seriously, avoiding all the drama is worth it. so i spend lots of time on my own. don't feel bad.....i like my own company;)

Yes, and I am always wanting to move where nobody knows me. A cabin in the middle of 20 acres would be nice. My friends dont cause allot of drama but I do have one who had a crush on a 17 yr old the same time my daughter did. She is 44 and plans to marry him. He is 19 or 20 now and they still arent married.

I'm with you. You really have to pick how much emotional garbage you stick yourself with. It's cool. We're all grown ups. Aren't we? That's why I go for quality not quantity when it comes to friends. I just don't have time in my day for girly crap. Wear your big girl panties or hit bricks.

you can hang with me anyday! your my kind of gal and yes I agree...I am immature and I always blamed it on the fact that I don’t have any children and therefore didn’t need to “grow up”...but yes, the drama, the childish behavior...it’s no wonder my buds are all my blog friends. we bypass alot of the bs that goes into real world relationships. Drink a coffee on me, eat a chocolate bar and read a book...sounds perfect. all the best to a happy carefree and a “no drama zone” weekend.

Oh I loved this post. You said everything that has been on my mind. I especially loved how you said, "Don't you people have anything better to do. Go read a book or paint a table."

I love how honest you get, great post!

If you happen to find that drama free place, would you send me the address? I promise that I can be a drama free neighbor.

There is nothing more that I hate than adults acting like children. I go through it daily. Argg. I have always said I would rather work in an office full of men than women any day of the week. Men tell you exactly what is on their mind then move on. With women, 6 years later you are still trying to pull the knife out of your back.

Big stinkers! I hate drama and am so lucky that I work with a bunch of men; at least they say what they mean (unless it's your husband/life partner lol).

I'm joining you on the island.

At least they called, I have one former friend that stood me up one too many times without calling, lunches alone with people staring.

I'm an Army wife. Don't even get me started on drama!!! When is BRAVO going to do The Real Housewives of The Military! It would be insane.

Found your blog via a comment on mine...so glad I did! And yes, I FEEL YA. I tried living with women in college - for about 10 minutes. Good GOD the drama. And I had to give a shit about their boyfriend problems and who's pissed at who, etc. - so I lived with men. where they brawl and get really mad. then they get the hell over it. As it should be...right?

Anyway, great blog. Cheers.

I've totally had to deal with someone similar over the last week - freaky. I felt like banging her over-dyed, arrogant and moody little head into the desk.....she was my age supposedly but sure as heck wasn't acting it - oh the drama.

WOW..lol couldn't agree more thou. I actually just ended a friendship w/someone because they were a very needy person. Always asking if i was mad, cuz i didn't text her everyday like i did with my other friend who i was much closer with. I just couldn't deal w/her anymore she was mentally and emotionally draining me, plus among the other things i came to learn of her over the year which was a complete opposite of the person she portrayed herself to be in the beginning i just didn't want that as a friend. It is amazing thou how women play such games, and put up such fronts. I thought highschool was done when i graduated lol
