Texting Lingo = Foreign Language

I'm not a big texter to begin with and I never do it in the car, unless its parked. There are a few people that I will text with but not for huge lengths of time. I have a cousin in Michigan and we text because we have kids and its easier than talking on the phone. I tend to confirm times with our sitter through text because she is in college and I don't want to bother her. Other than that, I just don't get it. Why don't people want actual human contact with people anymore? My niece would love to have texting on her phone but my sister gave a thumbs down on that one. She is almost 15 and the prime age for this foreign language. I had a friend that when her daughter had a slumber party two girls at the party were literally texting each other from across the room. Wow! I've even seen a father and daughter at dinner where she was sitting across from him not even engaging in conversation because she was too busy texting her friends. The sad thing is he never told her to put the phone down!
Watch, she will come back and say she's not close to her dad because they never talked when she was growing up!

Here is some of the definitions if you ever see your kids doing it..................

AFAIK - as far as I know
BTOBD - be there or be dead
CD9 - code 9 parents are around
CNP - continue next post
CM@TW - catch me at the web
CRS - can't remember shit
CTS - changing the subject
CWOT - complete waste of time
DYJHIW - don't you just hate it when
FOCL - falling off chair laughing
G2TAP - going to take a pee
GAL - get a life
KPC - keeping parents clueless
POS - parents over shoulder
TAW - teachers are watching
?4U - question for you
53x - sex (how, why, who thought of that one?)

I can see why they use these abbreviations because this way they can text faster but this is why they don't talk to each other. I'm just curious how their grades are!

I'm guessing if Seniors text at all this is how they would text...............

ATD - At The Doctor's
BFF - Best Friend Farted
BTW - Bring The Wheelchair
BYOT - Bring Your Own Teeth
CBM - Covered By Medicare
CUATSC - See You At The Senior Center
DWI - Driving While Incontinent
FWIW - Forgot Where I Was
GGPBL - Gotta Go, Pacemaker Battery Low!
GHA - Got Heartburn Again
IMHO - Is My Hearing-Aid On?
LMDO - Laughing My Dentures Out
LOL - Living On Lipitor
LWO - Lawrence Welk's On
OMMR - On My Massage Recliner
ROFL - CGU: Rolling On The Floor Laughing... And Can't Get Up
TTYL - Talk To You Louder
WAITT - Who Am I Talking To?
WWNO - Walker Wheels Need Oil
LMGA - Lost My Glasses Again

Guess what? We started off with a 2 hour delay and now they just canceled school! Lucky me!

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I don't get the texting thing either. I do have text on my phone and will use it occasionally BUT if it takes more than 3 texts back and forth why not just call? Thanks for the laughs this morning.

"On the floor laughing...and can't get up." "Covered by Medicare."

These are GREAT. I am definitely going to use them. I'll give your blog credit though. =)

I have some people like my trainer who will only communicate by text. I refuse to use abbreviations and spell everything out. Maybe I'm OCD?

I love your seniors list - so funny! You know what? I just don't care for cell phones period. I am not a texter, and I don't enjoy talking on the phone. I'd rather have a nice conversation face to face. Technology is great in some ways, but is robbing childhoods and families in other ways.

You are hysterical!!!! And yes, I feel a little out of the loop when it comes to texting lingo as well. I get made fun of by my younger brother for typing out full words. :( The horror.

OMG! I just snorted hot coffee reading that, I love your sense of humor. And all so very true. I love your blog and the music (which is something I usually don't care for) Great music! My friend nixed the texting for her 15 yr. old, and I totally understand. They want her to actually know how to speak & spell!! I used to be a teacher, it's amazing how awful kids are at spelling! I text some, my mom just started texted WHOA!
