It's my birthday today! Can you believe I am 39 years young? What ever shall I do with my day? I think eating lunch with a friend and shopping sounds good!

Hope you all have a great day and if you forgot to send me a gift there is still time! Ha, no gifts necessary just a hello will do!

1st Day of School......ahhhh the silence!

Did you hear any screaming this morning? If you did, that was me showing the world my excitement that today is the 1st day of school! I think I'm going to sit and have a nice cup of Joe and bask in the silence of my abode and love the fact that no one is calling, "Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom!"

Claire and James on their first day of 1st grade and 5th grade!

James got this shirt from Disneyland and thought it made a good 1st day of school shirt!

Claire and our next door neighbor Lauren who happens to be in Claire's class!

Enjoy your day, whatever it may bring!

Feeling old? This will definitely do it!

The people who are starting
college this fall were born in 1992.

They are too young to remember
the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always
included AIDS.

The CD was introduced two years
before they were born.

They have always had an
answering machine.

They have always had cable.

Jay Leno has always been
on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always
been microwaved..

They never took a swim
and thought about Jaws.

They don't know who Mork
was or where he was from.

They never heard: 'Where's the Beef?',
'I'd walk a mile for a Camel ' or
'de plane Boss, de plane'.

McDonald's never came in
Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue
how to use a typewriter.

P.S. Save the earth.
It's the only planet with chocolate

Well I think it was the comment about Jay Leno always being on The Tonight Show and that the kids starting college this year were born in 92', that really made me feel old!

I know age is a number and it's really how you feel, but when I try and talk to our babysitter about music or simple things like "going to a cash box", she looks at me like I am from another planet and that is when I feel ancient!

I think I need to go paint something or organize something! Those things always give me the energy I need to make me feel unstoppable and ageless!

Have a great Wednesday! School starts tomorrow, whoo, hoo!

I'm Back!

Yea I'm back! Let's just say that after 2 long weeks, I can absolutely agree with Dorothy when she says, "There's No Place Like Home!" If I had had my red ruby slippers along with me on this trip, I would have slammed them together sooner to get back here!

As I mentioned before I left, I have a huge fear of flying and I'm also very claustrophobic. I made sure I calmed myself down with a couple of Bloody Marys before I even got to the airport! Not only was I trying to calm my nerves down, but I was also trying to block out my ugly shirt choice that I think I might be burning and my ugly humidity frizzy hair from my mind! Boy I hate having my picture taken!

And then with the help of a lovely woman I met on the plane she treated me to another Bloody Mary, to hopefully dull the senses a little or could it have been, that even though she was a frequent flyer, I think I was making her a little nervous!

Claire was very excited to get on the plane and was so hoping to sit by the window!

The flight was only a little bumpy and that's because Claire lost her front tooth on the plane and we bumped heads to get down and find it!

Once we made it to the Denver Airport we found out that our plane was canceled and they weren't sure if it was going to be leaving at all that night. At the time is was 9:45 so we made it to the bathroom and then off to check if the board was updated. The board then said not leaving until after midnight! Crap are you kidding me. I have to sit in this airport with a 6 year old? Argh! The board then was updated to say, leaving at 1:40! Yes that's 1:40 a.m. people.

Wow, would you look at that crazy curl, at least the one on the right is is having a good hair day!

Once we got on board I told Claire it was time for her to sleep, I mean after all it was 2 in the morning! I being the freak I am do not sleep on a plane, hey if I'm going down I guess I need to know it and let everyone know how I feel about it!

Claire eventually fell asleep but woke up right when we landed and had to desperately use the bathroom. I said she needed to hold it because we were almost to the gate. I could tell that she wasn't going to make it so I said hurry go! We were only two rows from the bathroom but she came running back crying saying the woman yelled at her! Claire was crying and doing that potty squirm in the seat and I knew that was not a good thing, so I got up and went on back and the flight attendant who was a snot yelled at me. She said, "You cannot use the bathroom, it is locked!" "Well crap, she is going to end up using the seat as a potty!" She said, "well I will have to call the captain and have him stop the plane if she really has to go"?

Like I was going to say, "Why yes please stop the plane for my daughter!" Hell no, I'm not going to be that person! I then begged Claire to hold it and told her all the things I would buy her just so she wouldn't let it go. How do you tell a little one who is barely awake to not pee herself? Just as I'm promising Claire a pony and a trip to the moon, the flight attendant walks up to us and says, "Ok, I spoke to the captain so hurry, go!" I told Claire to run, and prayed she would hurry. I felt many eyes on me as I kept looking back hoping the flight attendant would give Claire a little space so she wouldn't have stage fright!

We finally made our way up the plane and I made sure when I saw the captain that we stopped to thank him. I told him how thankful we were, that he stopped the plane so my daughter could use the bathroom and not have an accident in the seat. He looked at me oddly and said, "Ugh, you're welcome!" I then winked and smiled and said, "thank you for all your help!", to the snotty flight attendant who was then embarrassed because she knew she was caught! So there you have it, the plane was not stopped! Hey folks it was 3 in the morning, don't mess with me!

Well what a trooper Claire was for me. Boy was she tired and a little whiny. We finally ended up getting to my sister's house at 3:30 that morning. I believe I was then up before 6 because of this little creature.........

But hey, she was worth no sleep!

I have many many more adventures to share with you so check back this week! Oh and I met a fabulous blogger on my trip, she is a hoot and I love her so much! So stay tuned!

So happy to be back, I've missed all of you!

My Fear of Flying, It's True!

Yes it's true, I have fear, dread, horror, panic, terror, and trepidation when it comes to flying! In fact I'm kind of a freak! I know I'm not the only one out there that hates flying but I might win the prize for the most anxiety a person can have when flying! Oh, and to top that off I have to deal with a 6 year old that has some of the same anxieties as I do. Claire and I are flying this Friday to California to visit my sister and my niece Vivienne. They say that the more you fly, the more you are use to it. Well that may be true for others, but I'm not sure that would be the case for me. I am quite claustrophobic, so sitting up there breathing everyone else's air is seriously going to kill me. I'm hoping I can get some Xanax for the two of us, ok maybe just for me and some Benadryl for her!

I have only flown a handful of times in my life and I'll say it's worse when you have kids that are freaks flying with you. James won't be on the plane with us which is a good thing because some of you might remember what a hypochondriac he is. The last time I flew with both kids alone was when my sister got married 3 years ago. The whole time Claire cried about her ears and James checked every bump and spot on him and thought for sure he had been bitten by a brown recluse spider. James is so happy he is not flying that he has now taken it upon himself to tell Claire how awful and painful it will be and that her eardrums may pop while up there. Great, thanks James!

I wonder if meeting the pilots would help our anxiety or hinder it. I have always had good instincts when reading people and maybe I would find something wrong with the pilot and demand to get off or worse, have him thrown off! You all know how not quiet I am, so I'm sure I'd let everyone around me know my thoughts. Oh hell, I am for sure going to have a drink when I get on there. I don't see any other way around this. Can you mix alcohol and Xanax together?

I know what you are all thinking, my children are freaks because I am! Yes, you are probably right about this! Ok, breathe Megan breathe!

Ok, what if when and if I meet the pilot I see him texting? You know my feelings on texting and driving are very strong, so I'm pretty sure I'm even more concerned with texting and flying, wouldn't you all agree?

I'm sure with all my luck, this will be our plane! I think I'll drape myself in rosaries and start praying now!

Name in News, again......So Unfair!

Lindsay Lohan, 24, gets her name and face all over the news because she went to jail, but how many of you will read even one article about all of the Marines that gave their lives for us this week? Where on earth are our priorities?

Good luck Lindsey, you can't cry crocodile tears for the umpteenth time and show up with "FU" on your nails and expect sympathy!
If you thought your career was your life then you wouldn't have done this, yet again!

Please honor these Marines and pray for their families!
Justin Allen, 23, Brett Linley, 29, Matthew Weikert, 29, Justus Bartett, 27, Dave Santos, 21, Chase Stanley, 21, Jesse Reed, 26, Matthew Johnson, 21, Zachary Fisher, 24, Brandon King, 23, Christopher Goeke 23, and Sheldon Tate, 27

They won't be given another chance, so why should you Lindsey?

Had to vent, this is so bugging me!
