Happy Saturday to you all! Today was a beautiful day except that I spent most of my day inside at a Gymnastics Show! Claire is a Level 1 so this was her first time doing a show. We are just getting into this whole gymnastics thing, so I'm not sure where this will all go. I want Claire to tell me she wants to keep going. I will only go as far as she wants to go because I don't want to push her to do something that makes her miserable. I see too many girls that don't want to be there and the battles these girls have with their Mothers is just disturbing.
Hey, if they don't want to be there then why make them? I wonder if some of these women are living out their childhood fantasies of being a gymnast through their daughters?
I think Claire was pretty excited but when she saw how many people were there, she started to get a little nervous.
Here she is leading her group out to the floor! I'm loving that purple was their color!
Here she is doing her routine on the bars! She is the one on the back bar!
This is where my venting begins! First let me say it was crazy busy and not having been to one of these before I wish I would have shown up at 11:30 instead of 12:30. The show started around 1:15 so I figured there was time. Well I had no idea that people camped outside to get a seat. Wow, these are some serious parents. It's a good thing my husband was on call and my son whined enough this morning. I was able to pawn him off on a neighbor who has a son his age because it was standing room only by the time I got Claire settled.
I found a decent place to stand and get my camera ready. Tell me if I'm crazy but isn't it just politeness that if you see someone standing you don't stand right in front of them? Especially if we are all there for the same reason, to snap a picture of our kid!
How do you like this lovely picture? This was taken because I had my camera in the ready position and some A..hole decided to stop right in front of me, so I pointed my camera down, and this is what I got!
This is another beauty where I ended up with too much sun in my picture and when I was trying to switch buttons to get a decent picture, another wonderful parent stood in front of me and I just held the camera above my head and this is what I got.
Helllllo people! I'm not some teeny tiny person that you can't see, so why is it that you have to continue to stand right in front of me? Now before you start asking yourselves, why didn't she say something?
Oh ladies, I did!
This is what I said to a man, who got in my way one too many times.
I said, "Hi I'm sorry that I took my invisible pill for a moment and you didn't see me, but I'm here now, so can you step out of my viewing area?"
Yes ladies, yes I did!
"Nobody puts Baby in a corner!"
My little gymnast on the beam!
This is her coach Casey. Claire just loves her!
As the end of the events were coming to a close, the last thing we were waiting for was the handing out of the medals.
I of course wanted to snap a picture of Claire, right?
I had my purse sitting on top of a table and it hadn't moved since I got my spot. Well a mother of a young girl decided to have her daughter sit on this said table. I was getting my camera ready and the little thing knocks my purse off the table. Do you think I got a picture of Claire? No!
What do you think goes flying, but the contents of my purse. You know the usual, lipsticks, a tampon, pantyliner, gum, mints etc. I was nice and just said, Uh, oh! The mother decides to say that her daughter did not knock my purse down. Oh, right it just jumped off. I guess it has a mind of it's own. The mother decides to "Help" me pick up, and then has the audacity to say, "you have too much stuff in your purse!" WHAT! Excuse me? Now whose purse is this anyway? Are you kidding me? She said that as if that was the reason it fell over! I told her I didn't need her help and I said, "Yes I do have a lot of stuff, isn't it great?" "That's what you can do when it's YOUR purse!"
Here is my purse!
This is most of the contents of my purse. I think I left out mentioning my checkbook, a notepad and I guess I did have my Kindle in there! I am showing you all of this because I needed to organize it after I just tossed everything back in but I guess I just wanted to see for myself what it was I carried in there. I have to say that I am still happy with my contents and again since it is "My" purse I will carry what I want to in it!
All of my "Stuff" fits very nicely in my purse, when it is not knocked over by a youngster not being watched by it's mother!
Actually it all fits into these nice pockets. This is my Purseket! Yes I will admit I carry a million lipsticks/lip gloss but they all have their own spot and they aren't bothering anyone!
I'm much better since I am sitting her drinking a cocktail and typing so don't worry about me, I can hold my own!

What a rude lady by the way & the pursket looks great! We were at our very first dance recital / gymnast thing tonight too! Aubrie is four so it was just adorable & she loved being a star :)
Dang girl-- doesn't sound like the awesomest gymnastics experience ever-- but she looks adorable! Did you get any video of her doing her thing?
lol, I sooo relate to everything you've shared that all I can do is laugh. At 5ft 2 I am vertically challenged so find it difficult to get a good viewing spot just about anywhere and when some thoughtless person decides to park it in front of me my blood boils. Oh how I wish I had the guts to say something like you did.
Loving YOUR purse, very cool.
Claire is too cute and lucky to have a mum like you!

hi There-
Thanks for stopping by, love meeting new bloggers! That is pretty funny about the purse, some don't get it :) But I love your purse, very cute!
Take care
Kristin
Oh my gosh! People are so rude and clueless. I had a pretty grouchy day yesterday. Combo of major "monthly" attitude problem and lack of sleep. It's a good thing I wasn't with you yesterday dealing with that lady. You'd have to bail me out of jail :)
Hope you have a great Sunday!!
Damn Right Baby Don't sit in the corner! Ughhh Grrrrr....I hate when people get in my way when taking a photos! Ur just like me-we don't hold our tongues! I've now created the look where if I'm taking a photo and people are crowded around-they know better! And best believe they don't attempt to get in this motha's way when snapping her kids! Claire is so cute! I couldn't agree with you more about them parents who make their kids do things they don't wanna do! I just wanna ring their necks-so selfish! Your purse is cute.... What the hell is the sense of having one if we can't carry what we want and need! geeesh people.....
Oh sounds awful!!!! On a brighter note: Claire is so BEAUTIFUL :-)
You are way too funny! Invisible pill LOL! Your daughter is adorable. Hope she had a blast.
hi and thanks for following my blog..i'm following you now too! LOVE this post! i was a gymnast and always look forward to the day i have a daughter to take to gymnastics! but i definitely have to be careful that it's her dream, not mine! i absolutely loved it despite the long hours in the gym, but when i was a level 6 and told my mom i had had enough, i was very lucky to have a mom that said ok. you sound like a great mom too. congrats to claire!
People can be so rude - but on a lighter note that purseket is awesome - clearly I need one of my own!
Chelsea
You go girl! I have had my fair share of it all too. You have to speak up and you were right to do so. I don't think they will be messing with you at the next event!
Great pics of Claire and I like the photo of your purse contents. Looks pretty tame compared to mine. I am off to count my lipsticks now :)
Jeanne

OMG I remember those days!!
I can see that you're not one to be messed with Megan. Claire is just too darn adorable to miss a photo op, so just keep doing what your doing and don't let em get you down!!!

She's so cute!
Wish you a beautiful week,
Federica.
