Texting Lingo = Foreign Language

I'm not a big texter to begin with and I never do it in the car, unless its parked. There are a few people that I will text with but not for huge lengths of time. I have a cousin in Michigan and we text because we have kids and its easier than talking on the phone. I tend to confirm times with our sitter through text because she is in college and I don't want to bother her. Other than that, I just don't get it. Why don't people want actual human contact with people anymore? My niece would love to have texting on her phone but my sister gave a thumbs down on that one. She is almost 15 and the prime age for this foreign language. I had a friend that when her daughter had a slumber party two girls at the party were literally texting each other from across the room. Wow! I've even seen a father and daughter at dinner where she was sitting across from him not even engaging in conversation because she was too busy texting her friends. The sad thing is he never told her to put the phone down!
Watch, she will come back and say she's not close to her dad because they never talked when she was growing up!

Here is some of the definitions if you ever see your kids doing it..................

AFAIK - as far as I know
BTOBD - be there or be dead
CD9 - code 9 parents are around
CNP - continue next post
CM@TW - catch me at the web
CRS - can't remember shit
CTS - changing the subject
CWOT - complete waste of time
DYJHIW - don't you just hate it when
FOCL - falling off chair laughing
G2TAP - going to take a pee
GAL - get a life
KPC - keeping parents clueless
POS - parents over shoulder
TAW - teachers are watching
?4U - question for you
53x - sex (how, why, who thought of that one?)

I can see why they use these abbreviations because this way they can text faster but this is why they don't talk to each other. I'm just curious how their grades are!

I'm guessing if Seniors text at all this is how they would text...............

ATD - At The Doctor's
BFF - Best Friend Farted
BTW - Bring The Wheelchair
BYOT - Bring Your Own Teeth
CBM - Covered By Medicare
CUATSC - See You At The Senior Center
DWI - Driving While Incontinent
FWIW - Forgot Where I Was
GGPBL - Gotta Go, Pacemaker Battery Low!
GHA - Got Heartburn Again
IMHO - Is My Hearing-Aid On?
LMDO - Laughing My Dentures Out
LOL - Living On Lipitor
LWO - Lawrence Welk's On
OMMR - On My Massage Recliner
ROFL - CGU: Rolling On The Floor Laughing... And Can't Get Up
TTYL - Talk To You Louder
WAITT - Who Am I Talking To?
WWNO - Walker Wheels Need Oil
LMGA - Lost My Glasses Again

Guess what? We started off with a 2 hour delay and now they just canceled school! Lucky me!

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I know I've said this before.....

and I'll probably say it a million more times in my lifetime.........

I'd rather clean toilets than cook! Yep it's true, I absolutely loathe cooking so much in fact, that I'm offering to clean any one's toilets if they come and cook for us! I think it's a pretty fair trade, so who's up for this task?

Ok, fine! I guess I will continue to sit in my chair rocking back and forth, biting my nails wishing and praying I could somehow avoid this daunting task. I saw this sign and I think it is pretty fitting for me.

Is there really anything wrong with the kids eating cereal for dinner? Yes, the fact that my husband won't eat it. Jeez, who did you expect in the kitchen after we got married, Julia Child? Honey if you haven't figured it out by now, you never will!

I have to say, since my husband likes to eat dinner like most people he realizes that it will only happen if he prepares it. Yea me! Well, he recently informed me that since it is a new year he is handing his wooden spoon over to me. So, even though I yelled this...................

He didn't flinch a bit! I said fine you might expect this...................................................

All he said was, "I'll get use to the burned taste in my food!"

Dam! So if anyone wants to send some easy recipes that only seem like I spent hours in the kitchen (really I won't spend hours in there) I would so love you all the more!

Remember, if you do, you might get me offering to do this......................

My "Word" for 2011!

If you wander around the Blogisphere you will notice a common theme going on. Yes, it's Resolutions. We all set them, and most of us, yes, me included, we fail. Lets look at the #1 resolution out there and that would be weight loss or something along the lines of health. Well, I agree I need to get on that bandwagon but I don't want to be one of those failed statistics. So, I have decided I won't be getting a membership to the gym! No, I'm not going to do it! Why embarrass myself at the gym. I can do that at home and I often do. At least the people here who do make fun of me love me, right kids?

I've decided to get the Dance Central for Kinect (my son got Kinect for Christmas) and dance my ass off! Yup, I'm a closet dancer, it's true. There might be a video for the future!
Oh hell who am I kidding, not, never, no way, when pigs fly!

I've also decided to focus on a word for the new year that is geared towards me. I have been thinking about this for a while and had a tough time deciding between 2. I found one that I can relate to and one that will give me inner peace (ha, I have kids remember)!

My word for 2011 is "Be"

The definition of "Be" says:

a : to equal in meaning
b : to have an objective existence : have reality or actuality
c : to have, maintain, or occupy a place, situation, or position
d : to remain , undisturbed, or uninterrupted
My favorite is "D" - to remain undisturbed or uninterrupted! Ha, everything but in my house! I can't even go to the bathroom without some kid or some dog feeling the need to come bother me. For some reason, I thought that with age came maturity, but I am sadly mistaken. My son, who may I remind you, just turned 11, he still comes barreling into that bathroom. He comes in yelling as if his finger is barely hanging on, only to find out he wants to tell me about "The Annoying Orange video! Are you serious? Now? Get out! Have you seen those videos? Dear God, how do kids find this crap?

Anyway, I love this word! There are so many ways this word can go, so lets see:
I have decided that I will:
"Be" Present in everything I do!
(That means I will) "Be" drinking more wine at night!
"Be" Thankful even about the little things! (even if it is wine in a box)
"Be" Silly with my kiddos (especially if I've had wine)
"Be" spontaneous (who knows what may happen with that wine in my system)
"Be" Giving (you can give a lot when you can't see straight)
"Be" organized (hmmmm, doubtful)
"Be" the best me that I can (wine can make everyone "be" the best)

I found a quote that Marilyn Monroe said and I so love it, she said:
I don't want to make money, I just want to "BE" wonderful!
Perfect!

Happy Dancing everyone!

Many of you have decided that exercise was your #1 resolution for the New Year. I too have been leaning towards that as my resolution, but then I decided to compare the benefits of one over the other. Take a walk with me and see my research, won't you?

My 1st Award of 2011!

Happy New Year to all my Bloggy Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful and safe Holiday!

I would first like to say YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and show you my excitement about the kids going back to school tomorrow!

Now don't gasp, you all feel the same way!

We actually had a very fun and lazy break. Lots of Lego's, barbies, board games (bananagrams is a lot of fun) Kinect, movies, baking and sleepovers. Its time for this house and this mom to get back to normal.

Today I was awarded my first award of 2011! How cool is that? It is from Karen over at not just baby talk

She gave me the Stylish Blogger Award, wow! What a way to start off the New Year! Thank you so much Karen!

Rules of the game are as follows:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

7 Things about Moi! Hmmmmm.....

1. I want to take singing lessons! No, not to be the next American Idol or even on Americas Got Talent. I just like to sing and would like to have my husband stop asking me, "Hey did you write that song?" And me saying, "No, of course not!" And him saying, "Then why don't we leave it to the artist because they have talent!" Meany ! And for the record, I'm not that bad!

2. Huge pet peeve of mine is when people crack their knuckles! My son has a horrible habit of it and ugh I hate it!

3. I usually keep my Christmas up until February! Yes I am one of those! I think its because in Iowa January is so gloomy outside. But I have to tell you its killing me and I have already taken the big tree down! I'm thinking it will happen this week!

4. I clean the shower when I'm in the shower! I pray my inhaling of all the fumes won't give me cancer but it is so much easier to clean it that way. Don't all of you do that?

5. I am a product junkie! Yep its true! I love Walgreens! When my sister comes to visit she doesn't have to bring any toiletries, because I am fully stocked.

6. I have a love hate relationship with Face Book! I hate the fact that some people from High School seem to brag about their lives but I love to see what it is they are up to, why is that?

7. I would rather clean and organize someone else's home than my own! I use to have my own business doing that many moons ago and who knows maybe someday I will again!

Ok, now I need to award this to 15 bloggers I have just discovered but geesh with the holidays I can tell you 5 I have discovered, so here they are!

2. Mrs. Tuna over at Working Woman's Guide to Dinner
3. Karyn of Karyn Climans
4. Hollie from Funky Junk Show
5. Lisa from Mommying on the fly

Off to bed, gotta get those kiddos out early so I can do a little dance!

Thanks again Karen!

Look who is 11 today!

It was eve of the millennium, 11 years ago today (at exactly 11:00 pm.) that we welcomed James into this world. Let me just say he has changed our world, upside down, sideways and even a little backwards but it's all been for the good, well most of it! As I sit here typing this, there are 4 screaming boys having a Nerf gun war in my basement. You see, we no longer celebrate New Year's Eve like other grown-ups do. I use to hate it but at the moment I can say I'm cool with it. It could be that the wine is kicking in and or that I've locked the door to the basement, muhahahaha! My husband has escaped with Claire to the movies, oh what a lucky guy he is!

So on to the birth! I was actually due on Christmas, so when Christmas came and went and no baby I prayed it wouldn't be much longer. I was feeling like a beached whale and I have the pictures to prove it. No, you won't be seeing any of those, ha ha ha! So, when the morning of the 31st came I woke up early. I guess I was starting to feel my motherly instincts because I knew the baby was going to come. I think it was about 4:00 a.m. that I woke my husband up. He flew out of bed asking if I was ok!

Jim was in residency back then so he had probably just climbed in when I woke him, the poor thing! I told him I was pretty sure my mucus plug had unleashed itself and if any of you have seen what a mucus plug is then you know you are either going to have a baby or quite possibly an alien!

I just gotta say wow, I can still still see it, like it was yesterday. It's just one of those things you don't ever forget! I remember when my sister in-law called thinking she had lost hers I laughed. She was due with her first child so she was clueless. When I described it to her, she was utterly and completely horrified that something of that nature could come out of you. I think at that point she was ok with keeping it in and the baby for that matter.

Back to my story! Once we got through the Minnesota snow to the hospital, we both breathed a sigh of relief that we made it there safely and that we would soon hold a little one in our arms. Wow, did that nurse know how to deflate our spirits. She said, "nope you aren't ready, go home and come back later! Later, we don't have later. Jim needed to have this baby or he had to get back to work, he wasn't going to get time off unless there was a reason. So we started thinking of what to do. We ended up driving around and went back to the hospital about 9:00 o'clock. By that time I was having a contraction so they had to admit me, right?

Well, they said no again. I think the whole Clinic was freaked out about the thought of the end of the world that people had taken off work or were out "sick" so they were way understaffed. They did not want me there unless I really needed to be there! The nurse suggested we get over to the mall and start walking to get this baby moving. So off to the mall we went.

This baby was starting off on the wrong foot. He was being a little too stubborn for our liking and wouldn't budge an inch. We walked and we walked and we walked and then finally contractions started. They started off slow and then I think it was on our 17th lap around the mall (we were really booking by that time. I think the regular mall walkers were getting upset with us. We were making them look bad) was when they finally kicked in. We would walk a few steps then stop and I'd have to lean and breathe against the wall. Then walk 2 more steps and then lean again. We eventually bumped into a few people we knew and man are some people clueless. They started to approach us and I had to shoot them daggers with my eyes letting them know I was not approachable. Jim was thinking that at any moment an exorcism would have to be performed right there in the mall. He was afraid of what those contractions were doing to me!

Let's just say that all that walking and maybe even a bean burrito did the trick. They admitted us into the hospital and we thought, whew smooth sailing from here on out! Ha, who were we kidding! Jump forward many hours and they sent two nurses home for getting stuck with needles and my doctor was no where to be seen. It had been a while since I was checked on so, yup that's where my husband jumps in. Jim put some gloves on because I said, "Holy Hell, its time, I have to push!"

Thank God for Jim and his training. When you have to push, there isn't anything that can stop you! I wasn't going to wait for Jim to find a nurse, I couldn't! After a while of pushing a nurse had walked by the room and then immediately came back in because she saw Jim hunched over and thought what, who, oh shit!

Immediately into our room came a flurry of nurses, residents and believe I even saw a cleaning guy do a little moping around my bed. I hoped that with all the chaos of the room James would show some balls and decide to pop out at that time! The resident seemed to have no clue how to get James' shoulders out, so she grabbed James' head and started pulling. Jim about threw her to the floor but instead pushed her chair over with his foot and got back in there and I mean "really" in there. He unhooked the shoulder and flipped the kid around all while yelling many profanities at her. There was so much craziness going on in that room that I'll be honest, I'm not exactly sure who delivered the baby! I just hope the cleaning guy put some gloves on!

Here are some pics of James.

I miss my little guy but am happy to say that he has grown into a sweet, kind, intelligent and terribly witty 11 year old!

Happy Birthday James!

Love Mom

Happy New Year to you all, may 2011 bring many blessings!
