Muffins with Moms!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday? The weather was the only downside to my weekend. It was way too windy and a little on the chilly side. It felt more like March than May! We spent the weekend in Nebraska visiting relatives so most of yesterday was spent driving home. Claire must have told me a million times that Mother's Day was not going to be until Monday, so she said she wouldn't be wishing me a Happy Mother's Day until then. So, this morning I woke up to, " Happy Mother's Day!", rather loudly I might add.

I spent this morning at school with Claire having Muffins with Moms. This was a morning to honor all the Mom's of kindergartners for Mother's Day! I have to say that as much as I would have rather spent my morning in bed curled up with a good book, I did the good Mommy thing, and drove to school. I just cracked up at the huge smile on Claire's face when I walked in. It's amazing at how fast a kid can forget things. I told her this morning I was coming but she was still so surprised when I got there. Hmmm, maybe someday she will make a good actress, do you think? It was pretty cute to see all the kids faces showing off their moms to each other. There was one dad among the group, but I think he held his own. Since I volunteer in the classroom, I was a little curious to see which kid went with which mother, because I know how they really act when their Mom's aren't around! No, I'm kidding, they really are a good group of kids!

Of course we had to get a picture of us!

Get ready for a good laugh! This was my attempt at drawing a picture of Claire and I. Ok, so it's not my best work, but hey, I was under a lot of pressure!

I just love Claire's face here!

This is Claire and her teacher, Mrs. B. She is a fantastic teacher and we just love her. She was my son's teacher when he was in Kindergarten, so when we found out Claire was going to have her, we were ecstatic!

Well guess what? I hear the laundry calling my name and possibly that good book I was talking about! So, for now, I bid you all a great Monday!

Beautiful Flocks.......

I wanted to show you a few pictures of our front walk leading up to my porch. Our flocks have really popped this year! We were afraid with all the snow that they wouldn't make it, but wow were we surprised when these burst out! Whose that doggy in the window? Look closer and you can see our chihuahua Jasmine watching me out the door! Since I took these pictures I have added a lime green pillow to the chair. It certainly adds a burst of color to my little space! Last year I got a huge fern and my sister put it in that turquoise box on the brick wall. It was crazy but fun, I might have to do that again! Now, the grass you see in the pots is really fake grass. I have had it in there since Easter and am half tempted just to leave it, because our house faces West and plants usually burn in my pots! Hey, it's also low maintenance and we all know I'm high maintenance!

I have a window box there under my dining room window and I haven't decided what to plant. I also have another window box on the other side under our bedroom window. Again, I need something that won't get fried by the sun. Any suggestions?

Look how vibrant these colors are!

Hope you all have a great Thursday!

Look what I'm Flipping Over!

I got my Flip For Decorating book in the mail today. This was my giveaway from Jamilyn and it really is fantastic! If you have a chance, go check it out!

The Genius behind this book is Elizabeth Mayhew. One of the things I love about this book is if you flip through the pages with your thumb you will see a room from beginning to end. Do you remember making those books as a kid with say, a kid on a bike and if you flip through it really fast you see him riding and them falling off. I think most of us thought that was the funniest thing, am I right? Well this is kind of like that but with furniture and no one is falling down, unless you draw a woman falling off the couch because she has had one too many cocktails! Oops, there I go again, digressing or maybe wishing, but that would be pretty funny!

In this book you will learn how to pick key pieces of furniture and how to place them in your room. She then will give you a lessen on picking the right accessories for that room. If you need help learning how to pick the right paint colors, you'll find that in there. And if you thought that was it, she will even teach you how to choose the right window treatment for your windows, and how to scale down on collections. Wow, every time I turn a page I am even more impressed with what I find.

Here are a few pictures of a living room starting from the furniture placement! Now if you excuse me, I need to pour me a Margarita and get flipping! After all, it is Cinco De Mayo!

I've been out of control with my spray paint lately! My family feels that nothing, not even they are safe from the Spray Paint Queen! I hope to show you all my finished projects soon! But maybe I will do something like this! Is this the new look of 2011?

Simply Spray was used recently to design costumes for a Fashion Show hosted by the Cleveland College of Art & Design.

Gymnastics and a little Venting!

Happy Saturday to you all! Today was a beautiful day except that I spent most of my day inside at a Gymnastics Show! Claire is a Level 1 so this was her first time doing a show. We are just getting into this whole gymnastics thing, so I'm not sure where this will all go. I want Claire to tell me she wants to keep going. I will only go as far as she wants to go because I don't want to push her to do something that makes her miserable. I see too many girls that don't want to be there and the battles these girls have with their Mothers is just disturbing.

Hey, if they don't want to be there then why make them? I wonder if some of these women are living out their childhood fantasies of being a gymnast through their daughters?

I think Claire was pretty excited but when she saw how many people were there, she started to get a little nervous.

Here she is leading her group out to the floor! I'm loving that purple was their color!

Here she is doing her routine on the bars! She is the one on the back bar!

This is where my venting begins! First let me say it was crazy busy and not having been to one of these before I wish I would have shown up at 11:30 instead of 12:30. The show started around 1:15 so I figured there was time. Well I had no idea that people camped outside to get a seat. Wow, these are some serious parents. It's a good thing my husband was on call and my son whined enough this morning. I was able to pawn him off on a neighbor who has a son his age because it was standing room only by the time I got Claire settled.

I found a decent place to stand and get my camera ready. Tell me if I'm crazy but isn't it just politeness that if you see someone standing you don't stand right in front of them? Especially if we are all there for the same reason, to snap a picture of our kid!

How do you like this lovely picture? This was taken because I had my camera in the ready position and some A..hole decided to stop right in front of me, so I pointed my camera down, and this is what I got!

This is another beauty where I ended up with too much sun in my picture and when I was trying to switch buttons to get a decent picture, another wonderful parent stood in front of me and I just held the camera above my head and this is what I got.

Helllllo people! I'm not some teeny tiny person that you can't see, so why is it that you have to continue to stand right in front of me? Now before you start asking yourselves, why didn't she say something?

Oh ladies, I did!

This is what I said to a man, who got in my way one too many times.
I said, "Hi I'm sorry that I took my invisible pill for a moment and you didn't see me, but I'm here now, so can you step out of my viewing area?"

Yes ladies, yes I did!

"Nobody puts Baby in a corner!"

My little gymnast on the beam!

This is her coach Casey. Claire just loves her!

As the end of the events were coming to a close, the last thing we were waiting for was the handing out of the medals.
I of course wanted to snap a picture of Claire, right?
I had my purse sitting on top of a table and it hadn't moved since I got my spot. Well a mother of a young girl decided to have her daughter sit on this said table. I was getting my camera ready and the little thing knocks my purse off the table. Do you think I got a picture of Claire? No!

What do you think goes flying, but the contents of my purse. You know the usual, lipsticks, a tampon, pantyliner, gum, mints etc. I was nice and just said, Uh, oh! The mother decides to say that her daughter did not knock my purse down. Oh, right it just jumped off. I guess it has a mind of it's own. The mother decides to "Help" me pick up, and then has the audacity to say, "you have too much stuff in your purse!" WHAT! Excuse me? Now whose purse is this anyway? Are you kidding me? She said that as if that was the reason it fell over! I told her I didn't need her help and I said, "Yes I do have a lot of stuff, isn't it great?" "That's what you can do when it's YOUR purse!"

Here is my purse!

This is most of the contents of my purse. I think I left out mentioning my checkbook, a notepad and I guess I did have my Kindle in there! I am showing you all of this because I needed to organize it after I just tossed everything back in but I guess I just wanted to see for myself what it was I carried in there. I have to say that I am still happy with my contents and again since it is "My" purse I will carry what I want to in it!

All of my "Stuff" fits very nicely in my purse, when it is not knocked over by a youngster not being watched by it's mother!
Actually it all fits into these nice pockets. This is my Purseket! Yes I will admit I carry a million lipsticks/lip gloss but they all have their own spot and they aren't bothering anyone!

I'm much better since I am sitting her drinking a cocktail and typing so don't worry about me, I can hold my own!

No Phone Call Is Worth It!
